{"title":"Fringe","description":"\u003cp\u003eFringe, born in 1970 in Johannesburg, is a neo-pop artist who has established himself internationally while maintaining an enigmatic anonymity. Known for his multidisciplinary approach and his choice to remain “on the margins” of the traditional art scene, Fringe has transformed this peripheral position into a strength, using art to analyze and criticize consumer society and the contemporary collective imagination.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis career gained momentum in 2016, with his first solo  exhibition that quickly led him to exhibit in cities such as New York, London and Amsterdam, where he captured the attention  of critics and collectors.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDeveloping his artistic language in a culturally isolated context, as South African censorship during the 1980s made it difficult to access international influences. Partial exposure of pop icons such as Basquiat and Haring nurtured his interest in popular figures and global symbols, leading him to create unique visions of pop. His works follow a well-defined structure: each painting starts from a symbolic figure of pop culture, to which is added a brand or a slogan, and a background that suggests the  imaginary context in which the character lives. This combination allows the artist to reveal, through universal icons, the  paradoxes of modern society. Superman, Popeye and Alfred E. Neuman become universal archetypes of human aspirations, flaws and contradictions. Fringe is not limit himself to a cynical criticism of society: the irony of his works aims to stimulate reflection, leading the viewer to question the meaning of these symbols and the dynamics of consumption and belonging that define our culture.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eFringe finds in satire and paradox a way to explore profound topics such as the search for happiness, the influence of advertising and the need for social recognition.
